Pre-Employment Screenings and Background Checks

Pre-employment screening is the process of using psychometric testing and background checks, to determine the background and identity of hiring a new employee. Background checking is a popular method of pre-employment screening.

Recent surveys conducted by employment agencies reveal a growing trend amongst job seekers to lie blatantly on their application forms. Most especially the tendency is for prospective employees to inflate their qualifications and level of experience and expertise.

It is also well established that approximately one third of all business failures are caused by employee theft, including embezzlement, corruption & collusion. When one considers that with labour legislation weighted heavily in favour of the protection of employee’s rights, it is no longer possible to simply dismiss an employee. It stands to reason that a company that has not initiated a pre-employment screening programme and has inadequate security controls and lacks strict company policies is even more susceptible to internal losses.
